Signing Out Money

Inmates must approve a request to sign out money to an immediate family member and forward to the on-duty Shift Supervisor. Inmates have one opportunity for the signing out of money. The on-duty Shift Supervisor will take other subsequent requests of signing out money to a non-family member on a case-by-case basis.

A computer printed receipt shall include the amount of money to be signed out, who is receiving the money, their relationship to the inmate, and the inmate’s signature. The inmate’s signature is required to show his approval of the transaction. Inmates shall be permitted to sign out money only once per incarceration. The Confinement Division Commander may give permission for an inmate to sign out money more than one time.

Inmates shall not be permitted to transfer money to another inmate in the Vanderburgh County Jail.

Signing Out Property

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office provides for inmate property pick up and release. Keys and money may be signed out at any hour Monday through Sunday. This can be done only one time during incarceration.

Inmates who are being transferred to the Indiana Department of Corrections will designate who will pick up their excess property at the time of their transfer. These designated individuals may pick up DOC property Monday through Friday from 8:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the Detention Center at 3500 N. Harlan Avenue, Evansville, IN. All property not picked up within 30 days of inmate departure will be destroyed.

Any general property, other than one set of clothing and a form of identification, may be signed out by the person designated by the inmate, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM at the Jail located at 3500 N. Harlan Avenue, Evansville, IN. If the inmate has been sentenced to DOC, all property except identification may be signed out.

These items will be accepted Monday through Friday 7:30 AM – 9:00 PM at the Detention Center at 3500 N. Harlan Avenue, Evansville, IN.
