SUBJECT: Wanted Felon Arrested after Brief Morning Pursuit

At 07:39 this morning a deputy with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office observed a white 2019 Chevrolet Cruze commit a traffic violation near the intersection of Covert Avenue and Green River Road. When the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle the driver accelerated and refused to stop. The deputy pursued until the driver of the vehicle crashed into an AT&T box before coming to rest in the front yard of a residence near the intersection of Covert and Fuquay. The suspect, later identified as Doyle L. Austin Jr., of Evansville was arrested without further incident. Austin is being held without bond at the Vanderburgh County Confinement Center for the following charges: failure to appear warrant (charged as a felony), petition to revoke probation (Felony), resisting law enforcement in a vehicle (L6 Felony), reckless driving (Class A Misdemeanor), possession of marijuana (Class B Misdemeanor), and operating a vehicle without ever receiving a license (Class A Misdemeanor). Sheriff Wedding would like to thank the Evansville Police Department for aiding in the apprehension during this event.
