SUBJECT: Traffic Crash on State Road 65 Leaves Two Hospitalized
RELEASE NUMBER: 2019-NR-062
CONTACT:  Lieutenant Mark Rasure
AUTHORITY: Sheriff David Wedding

At 14:46 this afternoon the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of State Road 65 and Plainview Drive for a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles where one of the drivers was trapped inside with potentially life-threatening injuries. Sheriff’s deputies arrived to find that a black 2016 Chevrolet Equinox traveling north on State Road 65 had crossed the centerline into oncoming southbound traffic and collided head-on into a blue 2013 Buick Lucerne. Due to the extent of the damage, the driver of the black Chevrolet Equinox was trapped inside the vehicle with multiple obvious fractures. Both drivers were transported to area hospitals for immediate medical attention, but the actual extent of the injuries is undetermined at this time. The Sheriff’s Office does not suspect that drugs or alcohol played a role in this crash; however, the crash will remain under investigation pending the results of an official analysis by the Indiana Department of Toxicology.
