Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Deputies and Indiana State Police Troopers assigned to the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force arrested a wanted sex offender last night.

Mr. Katawn Omdu Tapp was being sought on a felony warrant for Sex Offender Failure to Register with a Prior as a Level 5 Felony.  On December 23, 2014 Task Force Officers tracked Mr. Tapp to a residence on Mackey Ferry Road in Posey County. Task Force Officers then spoke to resident Ms. Deanna Kay (Payne) Cook, who attempted to conceal Mr. Tapp’s presence.  Officers located Mr. Tapp in the basement where he was taken into custody without incident.

Mr. Tapp was transported to the Vanderburgh County Confinement Center where he is being held without bond.  Ms. Cook was transported to the Posey County Jail where she is being held on $1,000 bond.  Mr. Tapp first appeared on the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office Most Wanted list on November 07, 2014.
