SUBJECT: Road Closure Request Online
RELEASE NUMBER: 2014-NR-095
CONTACT: Lt. Noah Robinson
AUTHORITY: Sheriff Dave Wedding

Today, Sheriff Dave Wedding announced the official launch of the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office online “Road Closure Request” form. This online form has been added to vanderburghsheriff.org and will allow individuals to request the closure of a county roadway for a variety of purposes.

Sheriff Dave Wedding explained, “We identified some inefficiency in the old process of requesting a road closure, which occasionally resulted in citizens being transferred back and forth between the Sheriff’s Office and the office of the County Commissioners”. Sheriff Wedding added, “Board of Commissioners President Joe Kiefer and I were able to work together and streamline the process.”

Newly submitted online road closure applications will now be reviewed by the Sheriff’s Office and then forwarded on to the County Commissioners for approval. Sheriff Wedding stated, “When a charity wants to hold a road race or a neighborhood association wants to have a block party, the event organizers now have a simple and efficient mechanism to make a road closure request.”

The Sheriff’s Office continues to partner with the EXTEND GROUP to develop new applications and enhancements for vanderburghsheriff.org.
