On Monday, July 28, 2014 at 9:51pm deputies were dispatched to 1203 E. Baseline Road in reference to a motor vehicle crash with injuries. When Deputies arrived, they learned that an assembled dune buggy was being driven on the property by Robert Duffy. For an unknown reason, the vehicle flipped and an eighteen year old passenger, Taylor Hess, was partially ejected from the vehicle. Hess was trapped underneath the vehicle, until her father, who was at the residence at the time of the crash, arrived and freed her from the wreckage.

Firefighters from the Scott Township Fire Department arrived and provided first aid to both Hess and Duffy. Both Hess and Duffy were transported to Deaconess. At Deaconess, Hess died as a result of her injuries. Duffy was admitted to the hospital for his injures. The crash is still under investigation by the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office.
