Report of Shots Fired leads to Intimidation Arrest

On Thursday, July 10, 2014 the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office responded to Casey`s General Store at 3100 N Saint Joseph Ave in reference to a report of “shots fired”. The manager reported observing gunfire from a vehicle in the street. Deputies located and recovered shell casing at that location.

Shortly thereafter, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 6132 Danville Drive in reference to a report of a person armed with a gun. The victim reported that a Mr. Tylorian Matthews had pointed a handgun at her head and threatened to kill her in front of her child. Deputies located Mr. Matthews nearby at a residence in the 1900 block of Westbrook Drive. Additionally, a handgun was located under the wheel well of a vehicle at that location. An examination of the handgun revealed the weapon had been recently fired.

Mr. Matthews was taken into custody on charges of Pointing a Firearm as a Class A Misdemeanor, Carrying a Handgun without a License as a Class A Misdemeanor and Intimidation with a Weapon as a Level 5 Felony.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges and/or arrests are possible.
