ATV and Passenger Car Crash – Causing Serious Injury

At approximately 5:09 p.m. Deputies were dispatched to the 17000 Block of Korff Road in Northern Vanderburgh County in reference to golf cart/ATV type vehicle that was struck by a passenger car.

The initial investigation indicates that a black 2003 Acura was travelling South on Korff road when it struck a Yamaha ATV type vehicle as it was either entering or exiting a drive near the crest of a hill.

Tonya Smith, the driver of the Acura and passenger, Reagan Smith were taken to Deaconess Hospital for abrasions sustained by the deployment of the airbags. Both were treated and released.

Lance Hunter was operating the ATV at the time of the crash. Hunter was ejected from the ATV and sustained multiple facial injuries. Hunter was transported to Deaconess by medical helicopter. The injuries sustained by Hunter are considered non-life threatening.

Jennifer R. Burgdorf was a passenger on the ATV, also sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Deaconess by the Scott Township Fire Department Ambulance.

Crash reconstructionists and detectives were dispatched to the scene to assist in the investigation which is still ongoing.

At this time, there is no indication that alcohol or drugs was a factor.
