Sex Offender Arrested for Failure to Register

DATE: Friday, April 04, 2014
SUBJECT: Sex Offender Arrest
RELEASE NUMBER: 2014-NR-027
CONTACT: Sgt. Nathan Sugarman
AUTHORITY: Sheriff Eric Williams

On April 04, 2014 the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office arrested Bryan T. Blume for failing to register as a sex offender. A warrant was issued for Blume after he moved to Dubois County in early March of this year, without first notifying the Sheriff’s Office within the required 7 day period.

During a routine home verification, investigator’s learned Blume had left his last registered address, in Evansville, after an argument with the homeowners. The homeowner’s reported that they kicked Blume out of their home after he made remarks to a female friend of the family that he would sexually assault her and ”bury her in the basement.” Investigators learned that Blume was residing in Duff Indiana. He was arrested and transported back to Vanderburgh County. Blume has been arrested on 3 other occasions for Failure to Register.

“We take the responsibility of monitoring and verifying the information of registered sex offenders very seriously. The individuals who are required to register have committed serious crimes and are being given a chance to remain in the community by following what are relatively simple requirements of registration. We expect and demand that they take their responsibility seriously as well. Blume has repeatedly failed to follow these simple rules and we are holding him accountable. It is my hope that the system returns him to prison where he no longer has to worry about following these simple rules,” said Sheriff Eric Williams.
