Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office Responds to Serious Two-Vehicle Crash

At approximately 6:33 AM today, deputies from the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Evansville Fire Department, were dispatched to the area of US Highway 41 and Waterworks Road in response to a two-vehicle crash with injuries.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered two vehicles involved in the crash: a 2021 Nissan passenger car and a 2021 GMC truck. Both vehicles sustained significant damage in the collision. The driver of the Nissan had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to a local hospital with serious, injuries. The driver of the GMC truck was also taken to the hospital, though their injuries appeared to be minor.

The primary cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office. Both drivers are required to submit to chemical tests under Indiana law for serious bodily injury and fatal crashes. While the results of the tests are still pending, alcohol and/or drugs are not currently considered a factor in the crash.

As a result of the crash, the northbound lanes of US 41 at Waterworks Road were temporarily closed for just over an hour to allow for investigation and scene clearance.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
