DATE: July 16, 2025
SUBJECT: Suspect Arrested After Fleeing from Deputies and ISP
RELEASE NUMBER: 2025-NR-0716
CONTACT: Major Matt Corn
AUTHORITY: Sheriff Noah Robinson

On Tuesday, July 16, 2025, at approximately 12:02 AM, a Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a gray Ford F-150 for a traffic violation near Mt. Vernon Avenue and North Sonntag Road. The driver failed to stop and fled at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle traveled east through city streets and onto the Lloyd Expressway toward I-69. Speeds during the pursuit varied between 50 and 80 miles per hour. Deputies successfully deployed stop sticks at the intersection of the Lloyd Expressway and Burkhardt Road, causing the vehicle’s front driver-side tire to go flat. Deputies, along with the Indiana State Police (ISP), continued the pursuit northbound on I-69 into Gibson County. An ISP trooper successfully performed a PIT maneuver near the 25-mile marker, causing the suspect vehicle to leave the roadway and become disabled.

The driver, identified as Finney Hayden, was taken into custody without further incident. During the pursuit, Hayden was identified as a suspect in an earlier felony domestic violence investigation that occurred within the city limits of Evansville. He later told deputies he fled because he did not want to return to prison.

Hayden was transported to the Vanderburgh County Jail and booked by the Sheriff’s Office on the charges listed below. Additional charges were filed by the Evansville Police Department (EPD) in connection with their earlier investigation for criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, felony domestic violence, and intimidation.

SUSPECT:

Finney Hayden, Male, 27 years old, Evansville

CHARGES:

  • Resisting Law Enforcement – Level 5 Felony
  • Reckless Driving – Class A Misdemeanor
  • Left of Center – Infraction

Presumption of Innocence Notice: The fact that a person has been arrested or charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
