SUBJECT: Deputies Investigating Fatal Crash on Lloyd Expressway

On September 19, 2025, at approximately 8:28 AM, deputies were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash with injuries at the intersection of westbound Lloyd Expressway and McDowell Road. The collision involved a semi tractor-trailer and a mid-sized sport utility vehicle (SUV).
The driver of the SUV sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased. The driver of the semi tractor-trailer was not injured and remained at the scene, cooperating fully with deputies.
In accordance with Indiana law, the driver of the semi tractor-trailer submitted to a chemical test following the fatal crash. He also consented to an evaluation by a drug recognition expert.
A crash reconstructionist responded to the scene and the investigation remains ongoing at this time. The roadway remains closed and traffic is being diverted while the investigation is conducted.
The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the deceased once family notifications have been made.
