On May 13, 2026, at approximately 1:56 AM, deputies with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 2600 block of Ashwood Ave for a reported residential burglary in progress.
The homeowner reported observing two male suspects on security cameras attempting to gain entry to a shed and later attempting to force entry into the residence. Deputies arrived within minutes and encountered two suspects fleeing on foot through a nearby field.
One suspect, identified as Tristan Schulz, was apprehended shortly after the incident. During the investigation, deputies located a black Ford F-150 believed to be connected to the burglary attempt. Investigators recovered several items of evidence near the vehicle, including burglary tools and a flashlight.
Through the course of the investigation, deputies identified Taylor Cox, 35, of Poseyville, Indiana, as the second suspect involved in the attempted burglary.
On May 15, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m., a Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office K9 deputy observed a suspect, believed to be Cox, exiting a vehicle in the area of Pleasant Ridge Drive near Bergdolt Road and entering a nearby structure.
Bystanders inside the building were able to confirm Cox’s identity and advised he had fled on foot out the rear of the structure. A perimeter was established in the area, and a K9 track was initiated. Cox was located a short time later and apprehended by the K9 Unit. Deputies later determined Cox left two children inside his vehicle prior to fleeing. Cox also shoved a deputy during the course of his arrest.
