SUBJECT: Evansville Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force Arrests Woman Following Pursuit and Crash

On September 28, 2026, uniformed detectives with the Evansville Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force attempted to stop a red Jeep Cherokee for exceeding the posted speed limit on Waterworks Road near US Highway 41. The vehicle was observed traveling approximately 70 MPH in a posted 40 MPH zone.
Detectives attempted to stop the vehicle on US Highway 41, just north of Waterworks Road. Rather than stopping, the driver, Casondria Leeann Carter, fled northbound on US Highway 41. As Carter continued northbound, detectives observed her throwing plastic bags from the vehicle. The bags were later recovered and found to contain approximately four ounces of suspected methamphetamine.
As Carter approached the intersection of US Highway 41 and Covert Avenue, she made an abrupt eastbound turn onto Covert Avenue. Carter failed to negotiate the turn and struck multiple vehicles that were stopped in the westbound lanes of Covert Avenue. Carter was then taken into custody by detectives.
Detectives immediately rendered medical aid to the occupants of the vehicles and requested an ambulance. The reported injuries were non-life-threatening. All parties were conscious and able to communicate with detectives. Four individuals were transported to a local hospital as a precautionary measure.
Carter admitted to throwing the suspected methamphetamine from the vehicle. Detectives also located approximately one additional ounce of suspected methamphetamine on Carter’s person. Carter was transported to a local hospital as a precautionary measure and was later lodged in the Vanderburgh County Jail.
Carter was charged with Dealing in Methamphetamine and Resisting Law Enforcement.
