DATE: January 6, 2025
SUBJECT: Armed Felon Arrested for Fleeing Detectives
RELEASE NUMBER: 2026-NR-0106
CONTACT: Lt. Matt Schnell
AUTHORITY: Sheriff Noah Robinson

On January 5, 2026, at approximately 11:00 PM, Detectives with the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force observed a vehicle exceeding the posted speed limit in the area of U.S. Highway 41 and Riverside Drive. Detectives initiated a traffic stop for the observed infractions. Instead of stopping, the suspect, later identified as Nazhee Daniel Flowers, fled in the vehicle, striking a marked Sheriff’s Office vehicle in the process.

Deputies pursued Flowers westbound on Riverside Drive to the area of Culver Drive. The vehicle pursuit lasted approximately two minutes, during which Flowers attempted to turn into an alley. During this attempt, Flowers struck a parked vehicle and a brick fence/wall, causing minor damage to his vehicle. Following the collision, Flowers again attempted to flee, striking another marked Sheriff’s Office vehicle. Flowers then exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

After a short foot pursuit, Flowers was taken into custody. Detectives located four plastic baggies containing approximately 198 grams of suspected cocaine in the area where Flowers was apprehended. Detectives also located a loaded handgun inside Flowers’ vehicle. The firearm was found inside a bag containing documents bearing Flowers’ name. Due to prior felony convictions, Flowers is prohibited from possessing a firearm. Flowers was also found to be on felony probation at the time of the incident.

Unbeknownst to Detectives at the time of the pursuit, an adult female and an infant child were inside the vehicle. Flowers was identified as the infant’s father, and the female was identified as the child’s mother. Fortunately, neither was injured as a result of Flowers’ actions. At this time, the female was not charged with a crime. The infant was placed in the custody of the Department of Child Services.

The Evansville-Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force is comprised of Detectives from the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office and the Evansville Police Department.
