DATE: Thursday, February 13, 2014
SUBJECT: Armed Robbery
RELEASE NUMBER: 2014-NR-016
CONTACT: Major Rick Pace
AUTHORITY: Sheriff Eric Williams

At approximately 2:44 am this morning, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Circle ‘S’ gas station, which is located at 11001 North US Highway 41, regarding an armed robbery in progress.

Deputies arrived on scene shortly after being dispatched and set up a perimeter for the K9 unit.  The K9 unit tracked the suspect, who fled on foot going north approximately three blocks. The track led to a church parking lot on Walnut Road where deputies believe the suspect fled in a vehicle.  At this time there is no vehicle description.

Investigators then interviewed the employee who stated a white male of average size entered the gas station wearing a dark green pullover hoody and blue jeans.  The suspect had the hood cinched down over his face to where the employee could only see a pair of black glasses.

The suspect then displayed a black handgun and demanded the money in the cash register.  As the employee was trying to get the money, the suspect reached into the register and grabbed as much cash as he could.  The suspect then fled out of the store on foot.
