SUBJECT: Deputies Arrest Theft Suspect Following Investigation
RELEASE NUMBER: 2025-NR-0515
CONTACT: Major Matt Corn
AUTHORITY: Sheriff Noah Robinson
On May 14, 2025, patrol deputies with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office responded to a theft report at a rural property in the 15000 block of Old Henderson Road. The property owner reported several farm-related items missing, with an estimated value of $815.
Deputies immediately initiated an investigation and determined that the stolen items, including an ATV sprayer, steel chains, and farm tools, had been listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace. Deputies arranged a meeting with the seller, later identified as Braeden D. Hobbs, under the pretense of purchasing the items.
That same evening, Hobbs arrived at a designated location with all of the stolen property in the bed of his pickup truck. Patrol deputies immediately took him into custody without incident. After being advised of his Miranda Rights, Hobbs implicated himself in the theft and indicated he intended to sell them due to financial hardship.
All stolen property was recovered on scene and returned to the rightful owner. Hobbs was transported to the Vanderburgh County Confinement Center and booked on felony theft charges.
ARRESTED:

Name: Braeden Daniel Hobbs, 21 years old, Evansville, Indiana
Charges: Theft – Embezzlement – Value of Property at Least $750. Level 6 Felony

Presumption of Innocence Notice: The fact that a person has been arrested or charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
