SUBJECT: Deputies Arrest Two Subjects Following Domestic Violence Call
RELEASE NUMBER: 2026-NR-0227
CONTACT: Lt. Erik Nilssen
AUTHORITY: Sheriff Noah Robinson
On February 26, 2026, at approximately 6:40pm, Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 1400 block of N. Red Bank Road for a reported domestic violence incident. Upon arrival, Deputies determined the incident was related to a verbal argument regarding an animal complaint.
During the investigation, Deputies discovered that Derek Deen was hiding inside the residence. Deen had an active felony warrant for Petition to Revoke Probation out of Vanderburgh County. After obtaining a judicially signed search warrant, giving multiple warnings for Deen to surrender, and numerous attempts to de-escalate the situation were unsuccessful, Deputies, along with an Evansville Police Department K9 Team, searched the residence for Deen. Deen was apprehended by the K9 Team while hiding in the basement and taken into custody without further incident.
Deen was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail. Teresa Spoon, whom Deputies determined was in a relationship with Deen, was also arrested after intentionally providing multiple false statements to mislead Deputies during the investigation.
