SUBJECT: Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office: Deputies Investigating Crash with Injuries at SR57 and Baseline Rd.

On August 10th, 2023, at 1:35 pm, deputies were dispatched to SR 57 and Baseline Rd. for an accident with injuries.  Upon arrival, deputies observed a maroon Nissan truck, and a black Chevrolet sedan on the Northeast side of the intersection.  Both Vehicles were heavily damaged.  Deputies determined that the Chevy sedan was Eastbound on Baseline Rd., and had attempted to cross SR 57.  The Chevy sedan then pulled into the path of the Nissan truck, which was traveling North on SR 57.  Both driver and passenger of the Chevy sedan had to extricated from the vehicle by Scott Township Fire Dept.. Both were also transported by Scott Township ambulance to St. Vincent Hospital with serious injuries.  The driver and passenger of the Nissan truck had minor injures and were treated at the scene.  Per Indiana Code 9-30-7-3 regarding serious bodily injury accidents, both drivers will be subject to a chemical blood test.  At this time, alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been a factor in this crash.  This investigation is ongoing.
