SUBJECT: Vanderburgh County Deputies investigate shooting during car break in

Deputies were dispatched to the 12000 block of Oak Gate Rd, in northern Vanderburgh County at 410am. A homeowner in the area saw a subject breaking into his vehicle on his security camera. The homeowner confronted the suspect who was in the victims vehicle. A physical fight ensued during the confrontation causing the suspect to flee. The suspect then pulled out a firearm and shot at the homeowner during his attempt to flee, and ran into a wooded area The shots did not hit anyone and no one was injured during the incident.  Deputies and officers with the Evansville Police Department , were able to set up a perimeter while allowing a k9 unit and drone team to search the area. The search area was heavily wooded and the search attempt was unsuccessful. Detectives arrived at the location  to process the crime scene and collect evidence. The investigation is on going .
