On the evening of April 27, 2025, Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a deceased individual found in Pigeon Creek, near the area of Grove Street and Diamond Avenue.
At approximately 7:13 p.m., a group of kayakers contacted authorities after observing a body floating in a congested area of driftwood in the creek. The individual appeared to be male and was determined to be beyond any lifesaving measures.
Deputies, Indiana Conservation Officers, Evansville Police Officers, and Evansville Fire Department personnel responded to the area and, after a coordinated search, located the victim several hundred yards south of Diamond Avenue, near the railroad tracks parallel to Grove Street.
The cause of death and the circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation. The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the deceased at a later time once the appropriate notifications have been made.
