RELEASE NUMBER: 2025-NR-0803
CONTACT: Major Matt Corn
AUTHORITY: Sheriff Noah Robinson

On Sunday, August 3, 2025, at approximately 2:17 AM, a Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Deputy was involved in an incident in which a suspect sideswiped his marked patrol unit near East Columbia Street and North Morton Avenue.

The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Edin Jimenez Hernandez, failed to stop and led deputies on a low-speed pursuit through a nearby neighborhood. The vehicle eventually came to a stop on East Iowa Street, where Hernandez was taken into custody without incident.

Hernandez admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving and stated he had never been issued a driver’s license. He performed poorly on field sobriety tests and registered a blood alcohol concentration of 0.205 on a preliminary breath test. Hernandez later refused a certified chemical test.

He was booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail without incident.

Sheriff Noah Robinson stated, “Driving under the influence places everyone on the road at risk. We are thankful no one was injured in this incident, and our deputies will continue using every available resource to remove impaired drivers from Vanderburgh County’s roadways.”
