Lieutenant Matt Corn
Lieutenant Matt Corn was born and raised in Evansville, Indiana, and attended North High School. After high school, Lt. Corn graduated from the University of Southern Indiana with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and a minor in Criminal Justice. He later received his Master’s Degree in Public Service Administration from the University of Evansville.
Lt. Corn began working for the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office as a Confinement Officer in 2004 and became a sworn Deputy Sheriff in 2006. Lt. Corn spent the next several years assigned to the Operations Division where he primarily worked on second and third shift serving as a crash reconstructionist, field training deputy, and physical tactics Instructor. Lt. Corn was promoted to Sergeant in 2013 and served as a patrol supervisor before being selected as the training coordinator and field training supervisor in 2014. He then served as the training coordinator until he was promoted to lieutenant in 2017.
Lt. Corn was assigned to the Confinement Division from 2017-2020 and served as an assistant jail commander. He is currently assigned to the Administration Division as the grants and records section commander. Lt. Corn is a graduate of Leadership Evansville and has been a certified Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Instructor since 2009.
Outside of his duties at the sheriff’s office, Lt. Corn enjoys spending time with family and friends, being involved in the Evansville community, and coaching and competing in all things CrossFit. Lt. Corn has helped organize and program several area CrossFit competitions as fundraising efforts and has fielded nine dragon boat teams, with four silver cup winners, in the Midwest Dragon Boat Festival.
