Deputies Arrest Suspect Waving Hatchets

On Tuesday, October 22nd at 6:41 PM, deputies were dispatched to the area of N. Saint Joseph Ave. and Allens Ln. in reference to a male subject reportedly waving two hatchets around and talking to himself. Witnesses advised that prior the the arrival of deputies, the subject was screaming at people in the area and had walked out in front of traffic at one point and stuck a vehicle.

Owners of Keys Contracting Arrested for Fraud

An investigation by the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office into allegations of home improvement fraud has resulted in the arrest of Jacob and Brooklyn Key, owners of Keys Contracting.

Deputies Investigating Crash with Serious Injuries

On September 23rd, at 4:44 pm, deputies were dispatched to the 9800 Block of Old Mt. Vernon Rd., for a single vehicle accident. Upon arrival deputies observed a white vehicle on its top. The white vehicle appears to have been traveling West on Old Mt. Vernon Rd., the vehicle then went off the right side of the roadway, collided with a tree and overturned.

Don’t Fall for Harvest Season Hazards

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office urges caution on county roadways during the fall harvest season. Local farmers will be moving farm machinery, and white-tailed deer will be more active as corn is harvested. In 2023, there were 98 deer-related crashes, with 33 in October and November.

Suspect Arrested for Attempted Murder

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office has arrested an Evansville man for several felony charges including Attempted Murder. The charges stem from an incident in which the suspect, Derek Anthony Smith, shot at another man in the driveway of a river camp on Lynn Rd near the Angel Mounds Boat Ramp.
