Lieutenant Brian Traylor, is a native of Jasper, Indiana, where he graduated from high school. He then attended the University of Southern Indiana and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1993. While at USI, he ran cross country and track and participated in several national championship races. Lt. Traylor was appointed a Deputy Sheriff in 1998 and graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 1999. Lt. Traylor attended honor guard training and became a founding member of the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Honor Guard team. Lt. Traylor participates in various events including recognition ceremonies, presenting of the national colors, funeral details, and other events directed by the Sheriff. Lt. Traylor has worked all shifts on motor patrol and as a court security deputy. Lt. Traylor was promoted to the rank of Sgt. in 2009, and continued to work on motor patrol, until his promotion to Lieutenant in 2018. Lt. Traylor is currently assigned to the confinement center as the 3rd shift assistant jail commander. Outside of his duties at the Sheriff’s Office, Lt. Traylor participates in road and trail races. He also enjoys camping, traveling, and spending time with his wife and 4 children.
