Major Mark Rasure

Major Mark Rasure is a lifelong resident of Evansville, Indiana. After graduating from Central High School, Major Rasure earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Evansville. Major Rasure joined the Sheriff’s Office as a jail officer in the fall of 2006 and was appointed to the position of deputy sheriff in the summer of 2007. Major Rasure served as a field training deputy for seven years before being promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2015. As a sergeant, Major Rasure served as a patrol operations supervisor before taking on the role of the agency’s training coordinator. In October of 2018 Major Rasure was promoted to his present rank and now serves as the commander over the Training and Public Information Section.

Major Rasure is an Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board certified senior instructor with specializations in firearms, police vehicle operations, and officer wellness. He is a member of ILEETA (International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association), The Police Society of Problem Based Learning, and ALERT (Association of Professional Law Enforcement Vehicle Response Trainers) International. In addition to his other roles, Major Rasure serves on the Evansville Parks Foundation Board, participates with Leadership Evansville, and is proud to work closely with the Ark Crisis Care Center by coordinating the annual “Christmas with Kids” Shopping Experience which is an event which offers children from the center the opportunity to share some Christmas joy with members of the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office.
