Major Matt Corn

Lieutenant Matt Corn

Major Matt Corn was born and raised in Evansville, Indiana, and graduated from North High School. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice from the University of Southern Indiana, followed by a Master’s Degree in Public Service Administration from the University of Evansville.

Maj. Corn began his career with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office in 2004 as a Jail Officer before becoming a sworn Deputy Sheriff in 2006. He spent several years in the Operations Division, primarily working second and third shifts while serving as a crash reconstructionist, field training deputy, and ILEA physical tactics instructor. Promoted to Sergeant in 2013, he served as a patrol supervisor before being appointed training coordinator and field training supervisor in 2014. In 2017, he was promoted to Lieutenant.

From 2017 to 2020, Maj. Corn was assigned to the Jail Division as an assistant jail commander, followed by a role in the Administration Division, from 2020 to 2021, as the grants and records section supervisor. In 2022, he returned to the patrol section as the 1st shift patrol commander and now serves as the Executive Commander of the Operations Division.

Outside of his duties at the Sheriff’s Office, Maj. Corn remains active in the Evansville community, training in CrossFit and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He has also played a key role in organizing and programming local CrossFit competitions to support fundraising efforts.
