Inmate Medical
The Vanderburgh County Jail has full-time medical staff on-site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Inmates may request medical care in writing, by means of a sick call slip, unless they have an emergent life-threatening condition. Sick call slips are available at each officer’s station within the housing units. Sick call request slips will be picked up by the medical staff each day and a clinic visit will be scheduled within 48 hours. Emergency medical treatment is available 24 hours a day.
Co-Payment
There is a minimal co-payment for all non-emergent medical services:
- Sick Call – $15.00
- Doctor’s Call – $15.00
- Dentist – $15.00
- Prescription Handling Fee – $15.00 per prescription
Charges accrue at the time of service for all services listed above and again on the 1st day of each month following the initial date of prescription for medications.
