CONTACT: Major Matt Corn
AUTHORITY: Sheriff Noah Robinson
In May 2023, VCSO Detective James Budde, who is also a federally deputized Task Force Officer with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Evansville Resident Office (DEA ERO), developed information that identified Keyontae McGuire and Edward Jerome Ivy as local leaders of a drug distribution organization operating in Evansville, Indiana.
In early June 2023, Det. Budde obtained a federal arrest warrant for Edward Ivy, as well as federal and Indiana state search warrants for several locations in Vanderburgh County. On June 15, 2023, members of the DEA ERO as well as detectives with the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force (EVCDTF) initiated an arrest operation to take Ivy into custody and execute several search warrants within Vanderburgh County.
As a result of the arrest and search warrant operations on June 15, 2023, Ivy was taken into custody without incident during a traffic stop in Evansville. Ivy was immediately transported to the Henderson County Detention Center, which serves as the federal detainee holding facility in this area.
The operations on June 15, 2023, also resulted in the arrest of seven other subjects, all of whom were arrested on various Indiana state charges and lodged in the Vanderburgh County Confinement Center. Law enforcement officers also seized six unlawfully possessed firearms during the operations on June 15, 2023.
The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are likely.
