Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on US 41

On Sunday, May 25, 2014 at 1:06 pm Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Evansville Fire Department were dispatched to an Accident with Injures on the approach ramp of Veteran’s Memorial Parkway to U.S. 41 South. Witnesses on scene advised deputies that the driver, later identified as Harry Eugene Meyer Jr. (53 yoa) of Evansville was travelling southbound on the Veteran’s Memorial exit ramp near the interchange with U.S. 41 when for unknown reasons ran off of the right side of the roadway and struck a guardrail. Meyer was ejected approximately 150 feet from the point of impact and landed at the bottom of an embankment. Meyer’s motorcycle crossed both lanes of southbound U.S. 41 and came to rest in the median. Meyer was not wearing a helmet.

AMR transported Meyer to St. Mary’s Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and died shortly after arrival. The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate this accident.
