The Sheriff’s Office and US Marshal’s service arrested a wanted sex offender from Quachita County, Louisiana on June 08, 2015. Eric Keith Short was found to be living in Evansville since January of this year without notifying the Sheriff’s Office, as required by law. The investigation began when Short went to a local temporary hiring agency seeking employment. The company alerted the Sheriff’s Office that Short had applied for a job and his name showed he was wanted out of Louisiana for failing to register as a sex offender. His original offense was Child Molesting involving a victim under the age of 14.

Sheriff’s Office investigator’s worked with the Marshal’s service and the Quachita Parish Sheriff to make the arrest. Short was located at a local restaurant where he was taken into custody without incident. Short is being held in the Vanderburgh County Jail on a local charge for Failing to Register as a Sex Offender, as well as the warrant issued from Louisiana.

Arrested: Eric Keith Short, age 56.

Charged: Failure to Register with prior conviction, Class 5 Felony
