News Release: Burglary Arrest

Yesterday, at approximately 2:45 PM, deputies responded to the 1800 block of Dana Court after receiving a 911 call about a burglary in progress. The deputies spoke with the victim, who told them someone had entered her home and stole money and prescription medication while she was gone. A witness was able to provide a suspect vehicle description and a partial license plate number.

Within an hour of the initial call, the suspect vehicle was spotted by an Evansville Police detective in the area of Maryland Street and Fulton Avenue. Deputies stopped the car on west Florida Street. One of the occupants fled from the stop on foot. The other 3 persons were detained. During the traffic stop, a passerby alerted deputies to a suspicious person in the 1500 block of West Florida Street. The witness observed a white male place a bag under a trash can in an alley. Deputies responded to the area described by the passerby and located a bag which contained a parole ID card in the name of Jeramie Lowe along with US currency. Deputies and officers from the Evansville Police department searched the area but did not locate the suspect.

The driver of the suspect car, James Lowe, was transported to the Sheriff’s Command Post where he was interviewed by investigators. James was found to have jewelry matching the description given by the victim as well as a large amount of money in his pant pocket. He implicated his brother, Jeramie Lowe as the person who fled from the car stop. He also told detectives it was Jeramie who committed the burglary. James was only providing him a ride.

James Lowe was arrested and transported to the Vanderburgh County Jail. Jeramie Lowe has not yet been apprehended.
