Subject: Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle on W Lloyd Expressway
Vanderburgh County, IN – On March 6, 2025, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Deputies, Perry Township Firefighters, and AMR Paramedics were dispatched to the area of W Lloyd Expressway and Red Bank Rd for a motor vehicle accident with injuries.
Upon arrival, deputies determined that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle and sustained serious injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstructionists were called to the scene to assist with the investigation.
Preliminary Investigation:
According to the initial investigation, a 2016 Scion xB was traveling west on W Lloyd Expressway, west of Red Bank Rd, when it struck a pedestrian who was laying in the roadway. Witnesses at the scene reported seeing a subject in dark clothing walking in the area prior to the crash.
The driver of the vehicle submitted to a chemical test in accordance with Indiana law for crashes involving fatal or serious bodily injury. The results of the chemical test are pending. At this time, alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to be a factor in the incident.
Road Closure and Investigation:
W Lloyd Expressway, between Red Bank Rd and Boehne Camp Rd, was closed for over two hours while the crash scene was reconstructed. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
