SUBJECT: Reckless Driver Apprehended After Pursuit
RELEASE NUMBER: 2026-NR-047
CONTACT: Lt. Brian Traylor
AUTHORITY: Sheriff Noah Robinson
On April 7, 2026, at approximately 4:00 p.m., deputies with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office responded to the AMC Theater in reference to a reckless driver.
The call was initiated by a theater manager who reported that a white truck had been circling the building for approximately 45 minutes. Upon arrival, deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop; however, the driver refused to comply and continued to circle the parking lot. The pursuit remained contained entirely within the theater parking lot and did not extend onto public roadways.
Deputies deployed stop sticks, striking two of the vehicle’s tires. Despite the damage, the driver continued to operate the vehicle around the parking lot. During the incident, the suspect struck two sheriff’s patrol vehicles. A third patrol vehicle was then used to pin the suspect’s vehicle against a curb, bringing the situation to a stop.
The driver attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by a Sheriff’s Office K9.
The suspect, identified as Terry Garrett of Evansville, 60, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Garrett is facing preliminary charges including Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Criminal Recklessness, and Resisting Law Enforcement. Additional charges are possible.
This incident remains under investigation.
