In January 2026, detectives with the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force began receiving information that Anthony Michael Stepro was selling methamphetamine from his residence in the 2100 block of West Delaware Street. Detectives were ultimately able to establish sufficient probable cause to obtain a search warrant for Stepro’s residence.

On February 12, 2026, detectives stopped Stepro as he was leaving the residence. A judicially signed search warrant was then executed at the location. During the search, detectives located more than 350 grams of suspected methamphetamine, approximately 27 grams of suspected marijuana, and a loaded 9mm handgun.

Stepro has a prior federal conviction for Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, as well as previous state convictions for Dealing Methamphetamine. Due to these convictions, Stepro is classified as a Serious Violent Felon under Indiana law, making it illegal for him to possess a firearm.

Stepro was transported to the Vanderburgh County Jail and charged with Dealing Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon.

The Evansville-Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force is comprised of detectives from the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office and the Evansville Police Department. The local offices of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Drug Enforcement Administration also assisted in the investigation.

Anthony Michael Stepro, 50 years old, Evansville, Indiana

CHARGES:

  • Dealing Methamphetamine, Level 2 Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, Level 4 Felony
  • Possession of Marijuana, Class A Misdemeanor
