Sheriff Dave Wedding attended the Women’s Equality Day luncheon today, organized by the Women’s Equality Day Evansville Committee in conjunction with the League of Women Voters of Southwestern Indiana. Dr. Idalene “Idie” Kesner, dean of Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, was the keynote speaker.
Today’s luncheon was part of an annual celebration of the day women gained the right to vote, which occurred on August 18, 1920 when the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified.
