Sobriety Checkpoint Results for Saturday, August 27, 2016

The Evansville-Vanderburgh County Traffic Safety Partnership conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday, August 27, 2016 near the intersection of W. Franklin Street and N. Ninth Avenue.

A total of 30 vehicles were diverted from W. Franklin Street into the checkpoint. The checkpoint ran from 11:30pm to 2:30am. One driver was under the age of 21 and close to the legal limit of .08.  The driver was cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated as a Class C Infraction.

Law enforcement officers from the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, Evansville Police Department and Indiana State Police staffed last night’s checkpoint.

Funding for local sobriety checkpoint operations is provided by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI) through a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
