Sobriety Checkpoint Results for Saturday, July 02, 2016

The Evansville-Vanderburgh County Traffic Safety Partnership conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday, June 02, 2016 near the intersection of N. Weinbach Ave and E. Illinois St. A total of 84 vehicles were diverted from N. Weinbach Ave into the checkpoint.

The checkpoint ran from 11:30pm to 2:00am. A total of tweleve (12) drivers were found to have been drinking prior to entering the checkpoint and were given standardized field sobriety tests. One driver was found to be intoxicated and was later taken into custody.

Law enforcement officers from the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, Evansville Police Department and Indiana State Police staffed last night’s checkpoint.

Funding for local sobriety checkpoint operations is provided by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI) through a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
