Stolen Vehicle Recovery Leads to Search in Northern Vanderburgh County

On Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at approximately 3:50 p.m. Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 900 block of East Mount Pleasant Road in reference to a suspicious vehicle abandoned in a parking lot.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen to the Evansville Police Department on July 12th, 2025.

During the course of the investigation, deputies encountered a male and female walking in the area. As a deputy approached, both individuals fled on foot. The deputy was able to apprehend the female, who initially provided a false identity. She was later identified as Cassidy Lynn Gross, who was found to have multiple outstanding warrants for her arrest.

Deputies, along with officers from the Evansville Police Department, conducted an extensive search of the area for over three hours. The search included the use of drone units and multiple K9 teams from both agencies. Surrounding neighborhoods, unsecured outbuildings, and wooded areas were thoroughly searched.

Although the male suspect was not located, a person of interest has been identified.The individual is described as a white male, approximately 5’10” tall, weighing 160 pounds, with multiple tattoos covering his arms, back, and face. He was last seen wearing blue jean shorts, with no shirt or shoes.

ARRESTED:

Cassidy Lynn Gross, 36, of Evansville. Resisting Law Enforcement (Misdemeanor), False Informing (Misdemeanor, Failure to Appear Warrant – Misdemeanor (Vanderburgh County), Child Support Writ (Vanderburgh County), Failure to Appear – Theft of a Firearm (Felony – Warrick County), Probation Violation (White County, Illinois)
