The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office has arrested an Evansville man for felony charges following a complaint of sexual abuse to a minor. Michael Andrew Rodenburg was arrested on one count of Child Molesting as a Level 4 Felony.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office was notified yesterday by the Indiana Department of Child Services of the allegations and began an investigation. The victim was interviewed by detectives and detailed multiple instances of sexual contact with the 70 year-old offender. At one point, Rodenburg had provided the victim with a cellphone to maintain contact. The victim was 13 at the time of the offenses. The victim had met Rodenburg through his involvement with the victim’s church.

Rodenburg was located at his residence today and detectives placed him in to custody. A search warrant was also served on the home. Rodenburg was taken to the Sheriff’s Operations Center and interviewed. After waiving his rights, Rodenburg confessed to sexually molesting the victim on at least twenty occasions.

Rodenburg was arrested for Child Molesting, a Level 4 Felony. He was placed in the Vanderburgh County Jail without bond. It is expected that additional felony charges will be filed.
