The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that Deputy Matt Gardner has been recognized as one of Indiana’s Traffic Safety All-Stars and as one of the Top 25 DUI Enforcement Officers at the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute’s annual awards ceremony, held September 18, 2025, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

The Top 25 DUI Awards honor officers from across the state who demonstrate exceptional dedication to removing impaired drivers from the road. Recipients are selected based on their enforcement efforts and commitment to reducing impaired driving crashes and fatalities.

Deputy Gardner made 56 DUI arrests in 2024, placing him among the top officers in Indiana for impaired driving enforcement. His recognition reflects not only his individual accomplishments but also the Sheriff’s Office’s broader mission to ensure safer roadways throughout Vanderburgh County.

“Deputy Gardner’s efforts directly save lives,” said Sheriff Noah Robinson. “His work exemplifies our commitment to protecting the public from the dangers of impaired driving, and we are proud to see him recognized at the state level.”

The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute reports that impaired driving continues to be a leading cause of roadway fatalities. Awards such as these highlight the dedication of law enforcement officers who work tirelessly to combat this ongoing threat.
