SUBJECT: Wanted Wisconsin Sex Offender Arrested in Evansville
RELEASE NUMBER: 2021-NR-1028
CONTACT: Major Jason Ashworth
AUTHORITY: Sheriff Dave Wedding
On October 25th, 2021, members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, comprised of Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s deputies and Indiana State Police officers, arrested Dakota Robert Myer on the north side of Evansville. Myer has an extensive violent criminal history and was wanted out of Wisconsin for parole violations and failing to register as a sex offender. Law enforcement officers developed information that Myer had been staying at a location in Evansville, where two young children also resided. He was arrested without incident and lodged in the Vanderburgh County Jail where he will await extradition back to Wisconsin.
Due to the fact that Dakota Myer crossed state lines and violated the sex offender registry in Indiana, this could constitute federal charges of the sex and violent offender registry, which is commonly referred to as the Adam Walsh Act.
Arrested: Dakota Robert Myer, 28
