SUBJECT: Warrant Service Ends in Officer-Involved Shooting
RELEASE NUMBER: 2023-NR-0320
CONTACT: Major Matt Corn
AUTHORITY: Sheriff Noah Robinson

On 03-20-2023, at approximately 12:26 PM, Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to the United States Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force attempted to serve a felony warrant at a residence in
the 200 Block of East Missouri. The warrant was issued for a petition to revoke probation for the
original charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Narcotic Drug, both Level 4
Felony offenses, as well as Possession of Paraphernalia as a C Misdemeanor.

Upon making contact with the suspect at the residence, the subject displayed a firearm and threatened deputies. At that time,
deputies utilized the Sheriff’s Office Armored Rescue Vehicle and established a perimeter around
the residence. During this time the suspect continually displayed the firearm and threatened
deputies. The suspect was told multiple times to exit the residence but refused. Sheriff’s Office Crisis
Negotiators were also requested and contacted the suspect. For approximately 2 hours, deputies
negotiated with the suspect to attempt to get him to peacefully surrender. These negotiations were
not successful.

Deputies then introduced chemical mutations into the residence while continuing
negotiations. This continued for an additional 2 hours with no success. The Evansville Police
Department SWAT team was then requested for assistance. For another 2 hours,
attempts were made by the Evansville Police Department to have the suspect surrender peacefully. Unfortunately, these efforts were
unsuccessful and ended with an officer-involved shooting.

The name of the suspect will be released at a later date by the Coroner’s Office once the proper notifications
have been made. All further inquiries concerning this incident and the officer-involved shooting should be made to the Evansville Police Department.
