SUBJECT: Sheriff’s Office Investigating Traffic Fatality on W Wortman Road

At approximately 9:45 PM yesterday evening Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s deputies responded to W Wortman Road west of Jeffery Court to investigate a motor vehicle crash involving four teens trapped inside a silver Jeep after colliding with a tree. The 911 caller indicated that just before the crash he heard tires squealing for a long time, then upon hearing the impact he went to check on the occupants before calling 911.
The on scene investigation revealed the silver Jeep was traveling west on W Wortman Rd just west of Jeffery Ct when the vehicle ran off right hand side of the roadway. When the vehicle left the roadway it crashed through a Southern Bell telephone pole before colliding with a tree. The driver (18) and front seat passenger (17) were killed as a result, while the other two passengers (13 and 14) were transported to the hospital for serious injuries. The investigation of the crash remains ongoing.
