On Sunday, January 31, 2016 at approximately 3:53am, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of N. St. Joseph Avenue and Glenview Avenue upon report of a vehicle crash involving injury.

On scene investigation and statements taken from the driver indicated that a brown 2001 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Ms. Lacey Chandler Alexander had been traveling northbound on N. St. Joseph Avenue before leaving the east side of the roadway and striking a steel road sign.

Ms. Alexander was transported by ambulance to Deaconess Hospital for evaluation. The investigating sheriff’s deputy observed that Ms. Alexander appeared intoxicated. Ms. Alexander admitted to drinking excessively prior to driving. According to Ms. Alexander, she had been looking at her phone just prior to the crash. Preliminary hospital testing revealed Ms. Alexander’s blood alcohol content was nearly three (3) times the legal limit.

Ms. Alexander was treated and released from the hospital and later booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail on charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated as a Class A Misdemeanor.
