On Thursday, April 09, 2015 at 7:47am the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office responded to Midas at 2811 N. St Joseph Avenue in reference to a man pointing a gun.

The victim reported to the responding sheriff’s deputies that the suspect had been “tailgating” him. When the victim drove into the parking lot of Midas on St. Joseph Avenue, the suspect reportedly exited his vehicle while carrying a handgun. The suspect allegedly cursed the victim regarding his driving skills and pointed his handgun at the victim. The victim advised that the suspect then fled the scene in a blue Ford F150 truck. An uninvolved witness corroborated the events as described by the victim.

Later that morning the suspect called 911 to report his involvement in the incident. Sheriff’s deputies met with Mr. Darryl Ray Johnson at his residence. Mr. Johnson admitted to displaying a handgun during the confrontation. Mr. Johnson claimed the victim had been “brake checking” him on W. Diamond Ave.

Mr. Johnson cooperated with the investigating deputies and was taken into custody without incident. A Glock .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun was collected as evidence.
