Overnight Crash Sends SUV Into a Lake

On Saturday, January 31, 2015 at approximately 10:45pm the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a submerged vehicle off of Big Cynthiana Road (SR 65) near Nisbet Road. The driver of the vehicle (a black Ford Edge SUV) reported that he was able to exit the vehicle safely and was not injured. The driver explained to the investigating deputy that he had been traveling on SR 65 when he swerved to avoid a deer in the roadway. The driver reported that he was unable to maintain control of his vehicle, left the roadway and then entered a private lake to the east of the roadway.

The Sheriff’s Office and dive teams from the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department and Marrs Township Volunteer Fire Department returned the following morning to retrieve the vehicle.
