AUTHORITY: Sheriff David Wedding

Two separate crashes occurring during the evening hours of Wednesday, September 3rd have resulted in injuries.

At 9:35 pm the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one vehicle crash on St. Joseph Avenue between Wimberg Avenue and Meier Road. An initial investigation indicated that Mr. Victor Rojas-Cardenas had been northbound on St. Joseph Avenue when he lost control of his blue 1999 Volkswagen Jetta. The vehicle left the eastside of the roadway and struck a fence. The impact caused a large wooden board to crash through the driver’s side windshield, which narrowly missed the driver.

Mr. Rojas-Cardenas was transported to Deaconess Hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Alcohol appears to have been a contributing factor in the crash. The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate this crash.

Prior to the crash the Chevrolet Trailblazer was observed traveling westbound on Petersburg Road at a high rate of speed before crossing the center line and striking the Chevrolet Malibu head on.

The damage sustained by the Chevrolet Malibu resulted in the driver, Ms. Hally Nalley, having to be extricated from the vehicle by the McCutchanville Volunteer Fire Department.

The driver of the Trailblazer, Ms. Morgan Turner, was able to exit her vehicle without assistance and was subsequently transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center for evaluation of possible non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol use by either driver is not suspected to be a factor in this crash.
