On 03/21/2022 at approximately 1835 hours, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with injury at the intersection of SR 57 and E Baseline Rd. Dispatch advised the accident was between a fully loaded, semi tractor-trailer and a 2010 Toyota Prius. Scott Township medics arrived on scene and performed an extrication on the driver of the passenger car.
The driver off the passenger car is a juvenile and she appeared to have serious bodily injuries. The driver of the semi was Balbir Singh and had no visible injuries. A witness to the crash advised Singh was driving south on SR 57 when the juvenile failed to yield on E Baseline Rd. The witness stated Singh attempted to avoid the juvenile’s vehicle but was unsuccessful. At this time, it is reported the juvenile involved in the crash is stable and is being treated for multiple bone fractures.
Per Indiana State Statute regarding a serious bodily injury accident, both drivers have been asked to submit to a blood draw to screen for intoxicants. There is no evidence either driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash. It remains under investigation pending blood test results from the Indiana State Police Laboratory.
