SUBJECT: Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office: Deputies Investigating Early Morning Injury Crash at SR57 and Kansas Rd.

On 8-17-2022, at approximately 0536 hours, Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Kansas Rd and State Road 57 for an accident with injuries. Upon arrival, deputies found a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle that was traveling East on Kansas Rd near SR 57. The pedestrian was conscious on scene but sustained serious bodily injuries from the crash and was transported to the hospital. The driver of the involved vehicle, a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe, was not injured. The crash investigation is on-going at this time.
The driver was later transported to the hospital for a chemical test per Indiana Code 9-30-7 and consented to a blood draw. At this time, alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash.
